You’ve heard of Arts and Crafts - well, now, I bring you Crafts and Food!
I like to make stuff.
I’ve enjoyed creating things since… well, since forever! In my youth, I enjoyed working with clay, watercolour painting, sketching, and calligraphy. These days, woodworking, photography, and cooking are my creative outlets. I have a little bit of formal training in these creative pursuits - a couple of basic woodworking courses at the community college in Ottawa and a 6-week stint at the Inside Passage School of Fine Cabinetmaking, plus a Professional Photography Certificate at North Island College on Vancouver Island - but am mostly self-taught. I am always looking for ways to create, or to highlight other creators though!
I like to cook.
I guess cooking is a subset of “stuff” I like to make, but lately this aspect has taken on a life of its own, and in terms of significance and sheer volume, food has overtaken the other stuff, so I feel it deserves its own heading.
Any website how-to will tell you to focus on just one thing for consistency and branding. Well, this is my website, and if I want to post about the latest pastry one day and a sweet new table the next, gosh darn it, that’s what I’ll do!
